Transgender's killers get final remand date
The case involving the killing of transgender Christoff ‘Sexy Charmy’ Fredericks, which was scheduled for final remand in the Katutura Magistrate's Court today, has been postponed to 20 June for plea.
The delay follows a complaint by Tashiya Nandomba, sister to Elias Nandomba – one of the accused in Fredericks’ murder – who told the court that her Legal Aid lawyer, Fillemon Vongaifa, had not responded to her calls ahead of the court appearance.
Thirty-year-old Fredericks' body was discovered with 32 stab wounds and with her private parts removed in Otjomuise’s 7de Laan in Windhoek in May last year.
Vensislaus Mbambo represents Elias, while his co-accused, Mervin Beukes and Joslin Booysen, are represented by Charles Beukes.
Tashiya and Booysen face charges of obstructing the course of justice and are currently out on bail.
Tashiya was allegedly drawn into the murder case when her brother, Elias, arrived home wearing blood-soaked clothes and reportedly asked her to help hide the evidence.
