Tourist killed in C14 crash near Walvis Bay
One tourist died and several others were injured Saturday morning when a vehicle overturned on the C14 road near Walvis Bay.
According to the police, the accident occurred at around 11:20 when a 30-year-old Namibian driver lost control of a Nissan NP200 belonging to Bucht Car Rentals and Tours. The vehicle was travelling downhill from Buschman Camp to Walvis Bay with seven tourists and a Namibian tour guide on board.
A 68-year-old Dutch national, Lisette Monique De Bruijn, died at the scene. The tour leader (aged 47) and six other tourists sustained minor injuries and were admitted to Welwitschia Hospital. The driver was unharmed.
Police confirmed that the next of kin have been informed. Investigations are ongoing.
