Teachers urged to tackle overcrowded classes

The Teachers Union of Namibia (TUN) kicked off its 2025 congress in Rundu under the theme 'Discarding compliance culture for inquisition and innovation in education' yesterday.
Speaking at the event, Victor Hamunyela, secretary general of sister union Namibia Wholesale and Retail Workers Union (NWRWU), urged delegates to confront overcrowded classrooms, strengthen educators’ rights and adopt firm resolutions that improve teachers’ working conditions. He called for unity, a stronger membership base and leadership that genuinely fights for the interests of teachers.
