Taxi fares rise to N$15 from 18 May

Works and transport minister Veikko Nekundi has announced a 15% increase in taxi and bus fares nationwide, effective 18 May, following a request by the Namibia Public Passenger Transport Association (NPPTA) and recommendations by the Road Transportation Board of Namibia.

Nekundi said the adjustment was approved after considering prevailing economic conditions, the need to support transport operators and the importance of balancing the interests of commuters, passengers and service providers. 

As part of the adjustment, taxi fares will increase from N$13 to N$15.
