Stray cats trigger false robbery alarm
NEWS IN SHORT
An Oshakati business complex was temporarily closed for an hour on Monday after grocery store employees alerted the police to the presence of suspected burglars hiding in the ceiling, only for it to be discovered that the noises they heard were caused by stray cats.
Oshana police regional commander, Commissioner Naftal Lungameni Sakaria, said he immediately dispatched members of the special reserve force to conduct a sweep of the store, but no criminals were found hiding in the roof. However, the police did discover stray cats.
The Yetu Business Complex is situated next to the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital, which has previously dealt with stray cats frequenting the hospital’s wards.
