Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare has expressed disappointment over the state of sports infrastructure in Kavango West, particularly in Nkurenkuru, saying the facilities are far below the national standards he had been made to believe were in place.

"Someone gave me the impression that Nkurenkuru had completed stadiums built to proper national standards. Had I not come to see it for myself, I would not have known that this is not the case," he said.

During a site visit on Saturday, regional leaders informed the prime minister that funding had been budgeted for the facilities, but progress had stalled due to challenges in accessing the allocated funds.

Calling for urgent intervention, Ngurare urged the Kavango West Regional Council and other stakeholders to identify and remove bottlenecks, engage the relevant authorities, and accelerate the upgrading of sports facilities to national standards.

"Work together. Do not fight each other. There is a lot we can achieve together. We want to see these stadiums developed," he said.
