Reggae musician Hans Ras Sheehama was laid to rest at Anamulenge Cemetery on Saturday in Outapi constituency, Omusati Region, where his widow, Saskia, Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa, close family, friends, and the Rastafarian community released doves in his honour. The Rastafari United Front, led by its president Brian Jaftha, who also heads Ganja Users of Namibia, described Sheehama as a pioneer of both the Rasta movement and the reggae industry, saying his music inspired many to embrace Rastafarianism. Sheehama, who died on 5 September in Windhoek, is survived by his wife, Saskia and seven children.
