SHORT NEWS: IPC Walvis Bay councillor appears in court

Walvis Bay Rural Constituency and Erongo Regional Council chairperson Florian Donatus appeared in the Swakopmund Magistrate’s Court yesterday on charges of fraud, alternatively theft, and money laundering. Donatus was arrested on Monday on allegations of spending N$116 000 buying deodorant, body cream and even ice cream at Metro Swakopmund using the Erongo Regional Council’s credit card. Donatus questioned the charges when journalists asked outside the court, suggesting they are political gimmicks, and declined to comment further.
