SHORT NEWS - Unlicensed, drunk driver crashes overloaded bakkie
Kavango West have arrested the driver of a vehicle that overturned and injured 19 football-bound passengers on the B15 road near Vandonga village on Sunday, 20 July.
The driver is under police guard at Nankudu state hospital.
According to Chief Inspector Raimbert Muronga, the man who allegedly had a breath alcohol reading of 1.36mg per 1000ml faces multiple charges, including reckless driving, overloading, and operating a vehicle without a licence.
Police say the accident occurred as the driver attempted to change gears, causing the car to roll. All occupants, residents of Katwitwi settlement, sustained injuries ranging from minor to serious. Police investigations continue.
