SHORT NEW: Leadership key driver in education progress - Steenkamp

Education minister Sanet Steenkamp opened the 2024/25 Global Education Monitoring Report (GEMR) yesterday, with a call for more decisive leadership at every level of the education system. She said progress is not driven only by ministers or administrators, but also by “the dedication of teachers, commitment of school leaders, enthusiasm of learners, and support of communities”. The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to ensuring equal opportunities for girls and boys, full inclusion of learners with disabilities, and empowerment of marginalised communities. She also confirmed Namibia’s readiness to embrace new opportunities, such as the AI Readiness Assessment Report.
