Security guard denied bail after alleged N$241k theft, shooting

Hamutenya Kanjimi (33), a security guard at Namibian Protection Services (NPS), appeared in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court this week accused of stealing N$241 150 in cash from his employer.
According to the charges, he allegedly broke into the company’s premises in Rundu on 8 September at around 04:00 and stole the cash.
The money has not been recovered, although two empty cash boxes were found.
Kanjimi also faces a charge of attempted murder after allegedly firing shots at another security guard on duty, injuring him.
The date for his second court appearance has not yet been set.
