Community urged to assist

The search for 12-year-old Kaylee Hulme, who disappeared after she was swept by a strong current in the Orange River on 7 January, continues.

“The search is not over, and members and volunteers from neighbouring South Africa have joined in the search to find her," Saun Naude said in an update provided on the NamStrong WhatsApp Group on 20 January.

"Her parents, Michelle and Chris Hulme, are devastated and are pleading for the community to assist. Her mother’s only request is to have her little girl brought home.”

Kaylee went missing at around 11:00 two weeks ago while swimming with her brother, while her father was fishing.

Many volunteers, as well as those who were fishing at the time, stopped what they were doing to join the search. Despite two weeks of searching and extensive efforts by officials and volunteers, she has not yet been found.

“We kindly ask anyone in the area, especially fishermen and people along the river, the ocean, or the beach, to please keep a lookout,” Naude said.
