Sankwasa tells Daman to return to their roots

Urban development minister Sankwasa James Sankwasa has urged senior councillors of the Dâure Daman Traditional Authority to return to their roots by adhering to customary law and restoring their cultural norms and traditions.
Sankwasa called on them to resolve internal disputes amicably in the interest of future generations.
Sankwasa made the remarks on Wednesday during a meeting to address concerns outlined in a recent ministerial investigation report.
The report flagged several contentious issues within the traditional authority, including the appointment of a chief, alleged mismanagement of public funds and office, the controversial appointment of a secretary, a court order and attempts to remove the current chief.
The community was urged to resolve its leadership disputes before the next annual meeting of the Council of Traditional Leaders, scheduled for September 2025.
