Rundu workers out on bail
Three Rundu Town Council employees accused of accepting a N$1 000 bribe to illegally reconnect water were granted bail yesterday in the Rundu Magistrate's Court. Peter Jonah (41), Peter Sikongo (43), and Frieda Johannes (31), who work in the council’s technical services department, were each granted bail of N$3 000. Their case was postponed to 4 September 2025 for further investigation. They were represented by defence lawyer Bernard Tjatjara. The trio was arrested on 25 June during a police sting operation conducted at Kings Park in Rundu. According to investigators, the suspects were caught red-handed after allegedly bypassing official reconnection procedures without their employer’s consent.
