President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah will travel to Cape Town, South Africa on Friday to participate in the 9th Southern African Customs Union Summit of Heads of State and Government.

The summit will bring together leaders and representatives from Namibia, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho and South Africa to discuss regional economic integration, industrial development and trade cooperation.

Among the key agenda items are the implementation and mid-term review of SACU’s 2022–2027 strategic plan, the impact of global economic developments on member states, and discussions on the bloc’s future direction. Leaders will also assess progress on industrialisation, regional value chains, customs modernisation, trade facilitation, investment promotion and opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
