Police officers also face GBV
SHORT NEWS
Namibian Police Inspector General Joseph Shikongo has acknowledged that police officers, particularly women, are also victims of gender-based violence, stressing that law enforcement officials are not immune to abuse.
Speaking during a police community engagement in Rundu yesterday, Shikongo noted that some female officers may conceal abuse by claiming injuries resulted from accidents, a pattern he described as common in abusive relationships, including within the police force.
Shikongo urged all victims, including police officers and community members, who encounter GBV, to come forward and report the incidents.
