Okahandja residents urged to surrender illegal weapons

SHORT NEWS

Okahandja Police Station Commander Tjarimba Mathais yesterday urged residents of the town and surrounding farms to voluntarily surrender illegal firearms, ammunition and explosives by 30 September.

He warned that anyone found in possession of illegal weapons after the deadline would face legal consequences.

The appeal comes following the official launch of African Amnesty Month by the ministry of safety and security at the end of August.
