No increase for pensioners
NEWS IN SHORT
President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah on Saturday reiterated that the old-age pension grant will not be increased from N$1 600 to N$3 000 this year. The government, she said, is focused on tackling youth unemployment, among other social issues.
Nandi-Ndaitwah was speaking at a relocation centre in Ohangwena during a visit to the north to engage with flood-affected communities who have been relocated to higher ground as part of the government's mitigation measures.
She noted that the late founding president, Sam Nujoma, had emphasised that the elderly should ideally have one meal a day while the youth receive three.
