New MRI for state hospital

Namibia has inaugurated its first government-owned and operated magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) service at Windhoek Central Hospital on Thursday.

President Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, whose speech was delivered by Minister in the Presidency, Charles Mubita, said the N$49.8 million investment will improve access to advanced diagnostic imaging, reduce referrals to private facilities and help ease the financial burden on government and patients. Government will also commence procurement and installation of a second MRI machine at Oshakati Intermediate Hospital during the current financial year.
