More resignations rock PDM
The Popular Democratic Movement (PDM) has been hit by further resignations, with members Vakamuina Kamutuezu and Shonena quitting the party on Friday. Their exits come just days after former MPs Yvette Araes and Esmeralda !Aebes also walked away from the former official opposition.
Kamutuezu, who has served the PDM for over 15 years in roles including youth league secretary of finance and central committee member, said she was leaving to pursue new opportunities. She expressed gratitude for the support she enjoyed within the party and wished it strength in its mission to uplift the nation.
Shonena, who joined the PDM Youth League in 2024, was more critical. “I had hoped to contribute to a vibrant political future and to an organisation that prioritises the needs of the people,” he said. “Unfortunately, I instead encountered persistent back-door gossip and leadership that, as the proverb goes, must be ‘thrown out with the bathwater’.”
