Meatco workers want CEO suspended
A group of disgruntled Meatco employees, led by the Namibian Food and Allied Workers Union (NAFAU), staged a demonstration on Thursday in Windhoek to air grievances over alleged mismanagement and discrimination within the company.
The protesting workers handed over a petition to Meatco's acting CEO Patrick Liebenberg, demanding urgent intervention.
Among their demands is the immediate suspension of Liebenberg and the executive for human resources to allow for an independent and unbiased investigation into the company’s affairs.
The workers further called for the appointment of an external auditor to probe the reported disappearance of 400 livestock from Meatco facilities—allegations that have intensified employee concerns over transparency and accountability within the state-owned enterprise.
