Meatco applauds payment of drought relief to farmers

Meatco has welcomed government’s payment of outstanding funds to livestock producers under the 2024/25 drought relief programme. In a statement issued on Wednesday, the corporation said the agriculture ministry confirmed the release of the funds earlier this week.

Meatco described the intervention as timely relief for producers affected by one of the country’s most severe droughts in recent years. Interim CEO ambassador Albertus Aochamub said the payments were not only a financial milestone but also a confidence booster for the broader red meat industry.
