Liberation veteran found dead after apparent suicide
Liberation struggle veteran Raphael Kampanza (66) was discovered with a gunshot wound to the head at home on Friday morning.
Police say the grandfather, who had lost his wife years ago and lived with his grandchildren, is believed to have taken his life after returning from the school run around 06:00.
His daughter became alarmed when he stopped answering calls and asked the domestic worker to check on him, who found the house’s doors open and discovered Kampanza’s body in the bedroom.
His brother, Daniel Muronga, told Namibian Sun on Friday: “I was in town when I received the call. When I got home, I found him lying on his back, one hand folded over his chest and the gun near his armpit. There was blood on his head. We searched his clothes but found no suicide note.”
