Katutura East meets with Windhoek officials

Staff Reporter

A public meeting between Katutura East residents and municipal officers last week focused on several key issues, including municipal debt and service payments. Residents were informed that the contract with Redforce had expired and that debt collection had now reverted to the municipality. The City also encouraged residents to make use of self-help payment machines, which allow municipal accounts to be paid by debit card without residents having to queue at cash halls. Residents were warned against using unregistered electricians or making illegal electricity connections. They were also informed that ambulance services are available free of charge to elderly people, while they were also encouraged to register for the electricity discount applicable to the first 250 units consumed each month.
