The ministry of environment has warned of a challenging wildfire season due to increased vegetation as a result of good rainfall. Chief forester Jonas Mwiikinghi said: "This year, we already suspected that we would have a very challenging situation in terms of forest fire, simply because we had received good rain, and that prompted good vegetation cover". He urged communities to take fire prevention measures seriously.
