Family gets new home
Pensioner Kapango Kavara (80) from Fumbe Village in the Kavango East region has received a corrugated iron house and a fenced plot from the Office of the Governor after living in makeshift structures for years with her daughter and seven grandchildren.
Regional governor Hamunyera Hambyuka said assistance came after a video of the family’s situation circulated on social media, prompting Prime Minister Elijah Ngurare to request that the governor assess the situation.
Hambyuka added that his office contributed N$50 000 for the structure and fencing, while Rundu VTC carried out the construction.
