Enercon-Namcor case postponement ruling set for Wednesday
SHORT NEWS
Windhoek magistrate Esme Molefe will deliver her ruling on 3 December on an application filed on Friday by state prosecutor Basson Lilungwe seeking to postpone the Namcor–Enercon matter to 26 March 2026 to allow for the completion of ongoing investigations.
The Namcor accused have been in custody since July.
During arguments, defence counsel for the 11 accused maintained that any further incarceration and delay would infringe on their clients’ constitutional rights to a fair and speedy trial. They urged the court to dismiss the State’s application and remove the matter from the roll. The defence further submitted that if investigations remain incomplete even after two years, the case should be struck from the roll and only re-enrolled once the State “has its house in order”.
