Divundu prison faces uniform shortage

Divundu Correctional Facility is grappling with a shortage of inmate uniforms, Deputy Commissioner Saima Kamwangha revealed yesterday. During a presentation highlighting the facility’s achievements and ongoing challenges, Kamwangha said the lack of uniforms remains a serious concern. She noted that while the facility has made major strides in agricultural production and national food supply, basic operational needs like inmate clothing are still unmet. The issue affects daily routines and inmate dignity, she added. Located in the Kavango East Region, Divundu is one of Namibia’s key open-air prisons and plays a vital role in rehabilitation through labour. Kamwangha urged for improved logistical support to ensure humane conditions and continuity of services.
