Deadly spear brawl

A 26-year-old man reportedly died after allegedly being struck with a spear during a physical fight at Ekunde No. 2 in Okahandja on Tuesday, police said.

According to Otjozondjupa police spokesperson Senior Inspector Maureen Mbeha, the incident followed an alleged robbery involving a 17-year-old boy, who was reportedly robbed of a tablet by three men.

Mbeha said the teenager later returned to the suspect’s house with three friends, where a physical fight allegedly broke out.

Police allege that the deceased was struck with a spear in the back of the neck, causing an open wound that proved fatal.

Four suspects, aged 17, 25, 27 and 31, have been arrested and are expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate’s Court this week.
