Cybersecurity breach confirmed at NAC
The Namibia Airports Company (NAC) on Monday confirmed that it experienced a cybersecurity incident on 6 March, with several systems being affected.
“The incident involved unauthorised access to network infrastructure and administrative accounts. Immediate containment measures were implemented, and remediation is currently in progress,” the NAC stated.
“Services were restored and operational disruption has been assessed as limited. At this stage, there is no evidence of data exfiltration, though investigations are ongoing to determine the full scope of the incident," the company added.
The NAC said it is working closely with its service providers and cybersecurity partners to strengthen defences, assess potential risks and prevent recurrence.
“Additional safeguards, including enhanced firewall controls, restricted administrative access, and improved monitoring, have already been deployed."
