Cop allegedly shoots girlfriend, kills himself
A man believed to be a serving police officer has allegedly shot his girlfriend in Khomasdal on Saturday night before allegedly turning the firearm onto himself, Namibian Sun has been informed.
The woman is understood to have survived the shooting and is currently admitted to hospital, while the man has died at the scene. Details surrounding the incident were still sketchy yesterday, with police yet to release an official report into the incident.
Namibian Police chief inspector Elifas Kuwinga confirmed the incident.
“Yes, the incident did occur but I’m compiling the crime report [into the incident],” Kuwinga said.
By yesterday afternoon, police had not officially confirmed the identities of those involved, the firearm used, or the exact circumstances that led to the shooting. It was also not clear whether the firearm allegedly used was a service weapon.
