Concern over TB patients sharing wards in Khorixas
Concerns have emerged at Khorixas State Hospital after staff and patients reported that individuals from different medical wards are currently sharing rooms due to ongoing renovation work.
According to hospital support staff and a patient’s family member who spoke to Namibian Sun yesterday, maternity patients, tuberculosis (TB) patients, children and men are being accommodated in the same areas during the upgrades, reportedly at the maternity and TB wards.
Sources at the hospital say the temporary arrangement has raised concerns, particularly because TB is an infectious disease that is normally managed in designated wards.
It remains unclear how long the renovations will continue, with some staff indicating that the project could take longer to complete.
