Community fed up with hazardous roads
NEWS IN SHORT
Sem Billy David of the Affirmative Repositioning movement has raised serious concerns over the ongoing public safety risks posed by dangerous trenches along the Hakahana–Havana Road and Peter Nanyemba (formerly Monte Cristo) Road in Katutura.
The trenches, a result of incomplete road and sewage construction projects, have reportedly caused multiple accidents and are now linked to an increase in crime.
According to reports from community members, at least five vehicles have already plunged into the open trenches. In addition to vehicular damage, the trenches pose a daily danger to pedestrians, particularly young children who are often seen playing near or inside the hazardous ditches.
The absence of warning signs or protective barriers has further compounded the issue, making the trenches nearly invisible at night and significantly increasing the risk of accidents.
