Cheetah Cement ordered to employ Namibians first
Justice minister Fillemon Wise Immanuel has directed the management of Cheetah Cement in Otjiwarongo to ensure that all non-specialised positions are occupied by Namibians by the end of July 2025.
These include two chefs and one administrative officer position currently occupied by Chinese nationals.
Immanuel gave the directive during his familiarisation visit to Cheetah Cement on Saturday, where he met with top management and, alongside the Representative of the Mineworkers Union of Namibia (MUN), employees and officials from the Otjiwarongo Labour Office.
He also directed the management of Cheetah and the union representatives to conclude all pending industrial issues, including understudy arrangements, market salary surveys, and determine the way forward, as well as 2025/2026 salary negotiations, by 23 July and 8 August 2025, respectively.
