Cash crisis in Kamanjab

SHORT NEWS

Kamanjab residents yesterday said they have been left stranded after all ATM services in the settlement closed, leaving community members unable to access salaries, pensions or cash for daily transactions.

Community members and farmers claim the recent closure of the last remaining ATM service has forced residents to travel to either Khorixas or Outjo, both more than 100 kilometres away, to withdraw money.

Commercial farmer and community activist Elsebie Robbertse described the situation as "devastating".

She asked: "How should this whole village continue if there is no money?"

Residents say tourists are also unable to support local businesses due to the lack of accessible cash services.
