Bail granted, but remain behind bars
Petrus Uusiku (30) and Petrus Kuume Shikwaya (21) were granted bail of N$2 000 each by Windhoek magistrate Olga Muharukua on Monday in a matter involving allegations of conspiracy to commit corruption.
Despite being granted bail, both remain in custody due to a pending separate murder case before the Ondangwa Magistrate's Court relating to the death of control prosecutor Justine Shiweda.
The Windhoek case stems from charges that were amended two months ago after the State withdrew murder charges against the pair and substituted them with a charge of conspiracy to commit corruption. The original charges had been brought under Section 18(2)(a) of the Riotous Assemblies Act.
