Aussenkehr-Rosh Pinah road reopens

Elizabeth Kheibes
The Roads Authority (RA) has reopened District Road DR212, which connects Aussenkehr and Rosh Pinah, after completing repairs on sections severely damaged by flooding.

The road was also closed in late 2022 and mid-2023, when heavy flooding of the Orange River forced closures, each time requiring motorists to take lengthy detours via Keetmanshoop.

All damaged sections have now been restored and deemed safe for travel, with repairs finished ahead of schedule. The RA extended its gratitude to residents, commuters and businesses for their patience during the closure.

The reopening comes at a time when Namibia’s road network is under pressure: many gravel and regional roads are vulnerable to weather damage. Motorists are urged to report hazards via [email protected] and to follow Roads Authority–RA Namibia on Facebook for updates.
