Archives preserve 'the memory of nations'
The Association of Archives and Records Management of Namibia opened a week-long conference in celebration of International Archives Week on Tuesday, under the theme 'Archives for Justice'.
Acting director of the Namibia Library and Archives Service, Namutenya Hamwaalwa, said: "Archives are indeed the memory of nations. They preserve evidence of who we are, where we have come from, and how we have evolved over time,” she said.
Professor Catherine Nengomasha from Unam highlighted the critical role of archivists in preserving evidence that supports justice, protects the voiceless, and impacts many areas of life.
