NEWS IN SHORT
Staff Reporter
Professor Job Amupanda has been appointed as an associated scholar under the STGS Chair in the faculty of humanities, social sciences and theology at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU), effective 1 March.

As part of an interdisciplinary team, Amupanda will contribute his expertise of the history of mining in colonial contexts, the experiences of mineworkers, and science diplomacy. His role will also include supervising doctoral and post-doctoral students in these research areas.

The Affirmative Repositioning leader, who is due to be sworn in today as a member of the Namibian parliament, is expected to undertake periodic in-person visits to FAU for teaching and academic engagements, supported by a successful BayFor application. Additionally, he will assist in coordinating STGS research activities in Namibia and the southern African region.

Discussions are ongoing regarding his potential appointment as a visiting professor in the faculty of humanities, social sciences and theology.
