ACC nabs govt official for fuel fraud

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested Einchius Asenane Ernstjost Nangolo (50), a regional sport officer in the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport: Directorate of Sport in Tsumkwe, Otjozondjupa Region, following investigations into alleged corrupt activities.



According to the ACC, the offences occurred in 2022 while Nangolo was employed as a regional sport officer at the ministry of sport in Ondangwa, Oshana Region.



Investigations revealed that he allegedly colluded with petrol attendants at Omwandi service station in Ondangwa by presenting government fuel cards as if vehicles had been refuelled.



He would then swipe the cards and convert the funds to cash for personal use. Small amounts of cash were reportedly given to the attendants who assisted in the fraudulent transactions. The total amount misappropriated through this scheme amounts to N$ 21,910. 45.



Nangolo faces two counts of contravening Section 43(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2003 (Act No. 8 of 2003) for the alleged corrupt use or abuse of office for gratification on diverse occasions.



He appeared in the Ondangwa Magistrate’s Court on 19 November 2025, where he was granted bail of N$ 2,000. The matter has been postponed to 09 June 2026 for legal representations.
