ACC arrests 3 over alleged tender irregularities

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has arrested former chief regional officer of the Kavango East Regional Council, Ludwig Katoyima Thikusho (63), along with Martin Vilho Sapumba (50), chief works inspector at the Kavango East Directorate of Education, and Jonas Nghishiyeleke Nghidileko (46), chief works inspector at the Ministry of Works in Kavango East, following investigations into alleged corrupt practices.

The case concerns the awarding of a tender to Stewe Investment CC for the renovation of the amphitheatre at the Maria Mwengere Cultural Centre in 2021, valued at N$82 610.

The three officials were charged with contravening Section 43(1) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2003, for corruptly using their offices or positions for gratification. They appeared before the Rundu Magistrate’s Court on 24 November, where each was granted bail of N$10 000. The case has been postponed to 4 December for the fixing of a trial date.
