18-year-old in custody following school stabbing
An 18-year-old Walvis Bay student was arrested last Thursday following a stabbing incident at De Duine Secondary School in Narraville, Walvis Bay.
According to police, the stabbing took place between 13:00 and 14:00 when the teenager allegedly stabbed another 18-year-old man who was attempting to intervene in a fight between the suspect and another boy.
The victim reportedly sustained a stab wound to the right side of his neck and was admitted to Welwitschia Private Hospital. He was discharged on Friday in a stable condition.
The suspect was arrested and is expected to appear in the Walvis Bay Magistrate’s Court today on charges of attempted murder or, alternatively, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police investigations are ongoing.
