Swapo names local authority leaders in Omusati
Following last week’s regional and local elections, Swapo has officially appointed councillors and announced their leadership positions across Omusati region. According to a directive seen by Namibian Sun, Swapo secretary general Sophia Shaningwa has directed Omusati regional coordinator Sackey Kayone to implement the deployment of the newly elected councillors.
The directive underscores the party’s authority under Swapo rules and procedures, specifically rules 49, 50 and 51, which empower the political bureau to manage deployment of all elected representatives.
Defiance of these directives is classified as misconduct and may result in disciplinary action, withdrawal or recall.
At the Omusati Regional Council, Daniel I.M. Lilende has been appointed chairperson, with Laurentius M. Lipinge, Matheus Gabriel and Irja N. Mbutu serving on the management committee.
Hans S. Haikali, Leonard Shikulo and Junias N. Amunkete have been deployed to the National Council, while Absalom Festus, Tomas Lysias, Festus S. Petrus, Selma N. Nakambale and Fabianus Paulus have been appointed as regional councillors.
