LPM rejoices in resignation of ‘colossal liability’ Seibeb

Mariud Ngula
The Landless People’s Movement (LPM) says it’s on cloud nine after the resignation of its deputy leader Henny Seibeb, whom it labelled as ‘toxic’.

Seibeb resigned on Tuesday alongside former party operative secretary Edson Isaacks, and was replaced as the party’s chief whip in the National Assembly by Utaara Mootu.

LPM yesterday said it was in a state of ‘excitement and irreversible joy’.

Seibeb’s resignation was allegedly to preempt a plan to recall him from parliament, following remarks he made about the party in the media recently – and for allegedly abandoning party work.

LPM leader Bernadus Swartbooi alleged Seibeb has not set foot at the party headquarters this year. Meanwhile, erstwhile members Seibeb and Isaacks have accused LPM of autocracy and mistreatment.

Finally ‘at ease’

In a stinging statement yesterday, LPM spokesperson Lifalaza Simataa said the party is now at ease and relieved to the core, as the pair’s departure means the party has two fewer problems. “Thanks to the self-demise of these unimpressive jokers. This party never needed the likes of Seibeb. His media-hungry, attention-seeking personality demanded that the party even had to defend his male organ, while the party leader was in Angola,” Simataa said.

According to the spokesperson, the two men jumped ship in a ‘typically reckless and stunted’ fashion, as they avoided informing the party of their resignation. “They [resorted to using] the immature route of posting on their [WhatsApp] statuses and avoiding communication with party structures. We are deeply celebratory and exceedingly elated with the immediate departure of these two unwanted personalities,” he said.

“Seibeb, whose only life highlight was [being] an assistant in [former Swapo secretary-general] Pendukeni Iivula-Ithana’s office, could never adjust to the leadership mantle of LPM’s elevated scope,” according to Simataa. He added that Seibeb’s moral and emotional senses were forever disoriented and he did not understand what it took to lead.

No longer burdened

Isaacks, whose “entire invincible and inconsequential being was represented by his presence in the National Assembly”, eventually became Seibeb’s disciple, Simataa said. “Together, they set out to abuse every space of leadership, engaging in ill-disciplined and anti-revolutionary fever. While the party prided itself on values of dignity, truth, honesty and championing the youth, these individuals, unfortunately, failed to embody these values.”

He added that LPM is relieved to know that Seibeb’s conduct will no longer burden the party.

“He was a colossal liability, actively gaining negative press, conducting himself offensively and aggressively and actively being rude and unlikeable. Any political formation they wish to join, we wish them exceptional luck,” the spokesperson said.

At the time of going to print, questions sent to Seibeb went unanswered.
