ACC clears former IPC councillor
The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has cleared ousted City of Windhoek councillor Desiree Davids.
Davids resigned from the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC) after she was recalled from council following claims that she used her position on the city council to fast-track her land application.
The ACC released a statement today, stating that no evidence could be found to support the allegations that Davids abused her position or that her application was treated differently than that of others.
"The applicant, who previously received the erf in question, abandoned it after buying a townhouse in Ludwigsdorf and failed to pay the requisite N$30 000 deposit, despite being given sufficient time to do so. This made the erf available to councillor Davids. Therefore, there is no evidence that warrants the submission of the docket to Prosecutor-General Martha Imalwa for a decision to prosecute, and the case file is therefore closed," the ACC said.
