JUST IN: Help search for Belinda
Belinda Gawases (32) has been missing since 23 December and the police have asked for assistance in searching for her.
According to a police report, Gawases – who lived with her boyfriend in the DRC location in Swakopmund – was last seen by neighbours heading to the skip to collect tins and bottles for resale with her boyfriend.
She hasn’t been seen since.
It was reported that the boyfriend returned home alone on that day. It is further alleged that their relationship was fraught with misunderstandings and that she would usually go to her younger sister's home in DRC after arguments with him.
On Tuesday (3 January) the boyfriend informed her family members of her disappearance, who in turn reported the matter to the police.
Gawases doesn't own a cellphone. She usually frequents dumping sites in Swakopmund and Walvis Bay.
Her mother, who lives in Uis, says that she has not seen or heard from Belinda.
While there is no photo available yet, anyone with information about Gawases’ whereabouts is asked to contact her sister at 081 415 8077 or Detective Warrant Officer Cletius Kabuku at 081 391 0671 or 064 415 008/7.
Police investigations are ongoing.
