Girl dies at home due to lack of medical care

A 16-year-old girl from the Omusati Region died at home on Monday night, allegedly because her family did not have transport money to get her medical assistance.

The deceased has been identified as Johanna Nahambo Venasiu from Omangolowani village in the Onesi constituency.

Omusati police crime investigations coordinator, Deputy Commissioner Moses Simaho, said Venasiu’s body was discovered in her room at 04:00 by a housemate.

It is alleged that the deceased got sick two weeks ago and she was not taken to hospital for medical treatment due to financial hardship.

Police investigations continue.
