Elephant kills an older man in Kavango West

A 74-year-old man, Kandandu Thomas, was trampled to death by an elephant at Nduno village in the Kavango West region during the early hours of Wednesday. According to Kavango West regional commander Julia Sakuwa-Neo of the Namibian Police Force, the incident occurred at about 04h00 while Thomas and his wife were walking to their crop field. Thomas reportedly entered nearby bushland, where he encountered an elephant that chased and fatally trampled him. His wife raised the alarm after losing sight of him, and villagers later discovered his body with elephant tracks in the area. Police investigations are continuing.
