14 inmates escape from Ruacana police cells

Police in the Omusati Region are investigating a major security breach after 14 inmates escaped from Ruacana police holding cells on Monday this week, sometime between 15:00 and 20:00.
According to Omusati police, the suspects managed to escape by opening an unsecured burglar door between the cells and the courtroom. They then gained entry into the court corridor, broke the courtroom door and accessed the courtroom itself. They allegedly opened the court windows and fled from lawful custody.
The escapees, who are all known suspects, remain at large. Police urge members of the public with any information on their whereabouts to come forward.
