NO MORE PIT LATRINES: The Rundu-Tsumkwe People's Foundation yesterday handed over newly constructed ablution facilities worth about N$30 000 to the Visual Impaired Centre in Sauyemwa, Rundu, providing residents with proper toilets and bathrooms.

Chairperson of the foundation Elizabeth Lucian said the project was initiated after the organisation discovered that the centre relied on old pit latrines and lacked dedicated bathing facilities, forcing residents to bath in their bedrooms using basins of water.

She said the new facilities were built to restore dignity, improve sanitation and reduce the risk of injuries, while calling on businesses and other stakeholders to support vulnerable members of the community.
